Nominations Now Open for Scotland’s Health Awards 2024

Nominations are now open for the first year of Scotland’s Health Awards.  These awards signify a new partnership between The Scotsman and the Scottish Government, and will celebrate those working across NHS Scotland and its partners in delivering high quality health and social care services to the people of Scotland.

We want to know about the people who have made a difference to your life or to the lives of your family or friends. It might be an individual or a team who have provided outstanding care to their patients or those who are in jobs that normally don't have a high profile and who should be recognised for their commitment.

  • Tell us about your healing hero and/or the teams they work in
  • Tell us what they were trying to achieve
  • Tell us what they did that was so special
  • Tell us what difference it made to the person being cared for

Scotland’s Health Awards were officially launched at the NHS Scotland Event in Glasgow, by Neil Gray MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, who said:

“I’m delighted to launch the first year of Scotland’s Health Awards in partnership with The Scotsman. These awards are a fantastic opportunity to not only raise awareness of all our amazing colleagues across our health and care service, they give us the chance to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of those individuals and teams who go above and beyond to deliver the best possible patient care across Scotland.

“Scotland’s Health Awards also allow us to acknowledge the contribution of those people who play a critical role in the delivery of care through support roles and volunteers which all too often go unrecognised.

“We’re still going through a challenging time for all our staff across our health and social care services - however despite this, I see just how hardworking and committed our staff are in delivering high quality care. So please make sure to take the time to nominate, show your appreciation and say thank you.”

For the first year of Scotland’s Health Awards, we want to take the opportunity to recognise the incredible people who work in our NHS, who have made – and continue to make - an outstanding contribution towards caring for the people of Scotland for our Reader’s Choice Award for Outstanding Contribution to the NHS.

We want to hear about the people who you believe have worked tirelessly and have gone above and beyond to provide the very best care and are worthy of this special recognition.

It could be someone in your community, someone who has provided care, someone who doesn’t realise the remarkable impact of what they do on a day to day basis.

A shortlist of nominations will be announced ahead of voting opening, when you’ll have the chance to vote for the individual or team who you believe should be the Reader’s Choice winner.
