Rail Disruption

You may already be aware that RMT Union has announced its intention that, on 21, 23 and 25 June 2022, 50,000 rail workers across the UK will take part in industrial action in the form of a strike if no agreement is reached before then.

Please be aware, this is likely to cause severe disruption to travel in the week of the NHS Scotland Event in Aberdeen. We would therefore strongly advise that, if you are planning to travel to the NHS Scotland Event by train, you check the impact of this on your planned travel arrangements – or consider an alternative mode of transport.

If you decide to travel by car, please consider car sharing with colleagues to help reduce our carbon footprint. Given the potential disruption to rail travel, we have negotiated a 50% reduction in parking charges at the P&J Live.

Special car parking rates are available to NHS Scotland Event delegates.  You must book to obtain the preferential rates.  Bookings can be made prior to Event and during the Event days.

Travelling by train – 30% Scotrail discount

The NHS Scotland Event has teamed up with Scotrail to provide a 30% discount on rail travel for all delegates attending the Event between 20 – 22 June 2022.  In order to book your tickets and claim your discount, please email business.travel@scotrail.co.uk with the following information:

Complimentary Bus Service:

We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Stagecoach to provide complimentary travel on their 727 bus service.  This service travels between the train and bus stations to the P&J Live and airport.  The journey time is approximately 25 minutes from Aberdeen Union Square to the P&J Live.

The 727 is a regular service (every 15 minutes) and runs all day and night (except between 3am and 4am)

Delegates should present their Event passes to the drivers or provide evidence of their Event booking on a mobile device to receive the complimentary travel from Monday 20 – Wednesday 22 June.

Visit Aberdeenshire:

We’re delighted to be working with Visit Aberdeenshire (VA) at this year’s NHS Scotland Event.  Look out for our VA representatives at Aberdeen Railway Station and Union Square Bus Station on both days of the Event.

Our representatives will be welcoming delegates on arrival to Aberdeen and will be on hand to offer travel information and local knowledge during your stay.

Hotels:

There are number of hotels in Aberdeen offering special reduced rates for all Event delegates looking for a convenient place to stay.

We have ensured that the majority of the hotels are on or are very close to the 727 bus route (the complimentary bus service for all delegates).
