Callum Johnston
Advanced Practice Clinical Lead, Scottish Ambulance Service
Callum Johnston has worked for the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) for 21 years, with a background of Paramedic Practitioner (Urgent & Primary Care), graduating from Queen Margaret University (BSc) and GCU (PG Cert) and working in a variety of pre-hospital and Primary Care settings.
Callum was the Clinical Lead for the East of Scotland for three years prior to taking on a national role as a Clinical Lead for Advanced Practice, in 2019. Callum has a strong interest in collaborative working and in previous roles has developed and maintained referral pathways for falls, mental health, respiratory illness and substance harm reduction.
He is a passionate advocate of multi-professional teams and has set up integrated working with Advanced Practitioners delivering care in several in- and out-of-hours locations. For the past year Callum has led on SAS implementation of remote consultation in response to COVID-19.
