Dr Jonathan Downie

Dr Jonathan Downie is Consultant in Paediatric Palliative Medicine at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, and Clinical Lead for NHS GGC’s Paediatric Supportive and Palliative Care Team. He leads Scotland’s national Paediatric Palliative Care Clinical Advisory Service, a CHAS/NHS Board collaboration, having developed its consultant-led national model. He chairs the RCPCH Specialist Advisory Committee for Paediatric Palliative Medicine. His work spans complex symptom management, care around dying, service innovation and international education through the €5 million Education in Paediatric End-of-Life Care Europe programme. His research focuses on specialist paediatric palliative care models, outcomes and wellbeing through collaborations.
