Dr Richard Torbett MBE

Dr Richard Torbett MBE has been Chief Executive of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) since January 2020. With almost two decades of experience spanning the pharmaceutical industry, UK Government and European institutions, he has held senior leadership roles in public policy and economics, including at the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and Pfizer. He began his career as a government economist, working at the Department of Trade and Industry, the Cabinet Office and the European Commission. He was awarded an MBE in the 2024 King's Birthday Honours for services to the life sciences sector.
