Carolyn McDonald

Chief Allied Health Professions Officer (CAHPO), Scottish Government

Carolyn is the Chief Allied Health Professions Officer (CAHPO) for the Scottish Government.

She graduated as an Occupational Therapist in Dublin in 1985 and has worked all of her professional life in Scotland. Before taking up post as CAHPO, Carolyn was the Director for Allied Health professions in NHS Fife.

As the most senior professional advisor for AHPs, Carolyn provides expert advice to Scottish Ministers and the Government on professional matters affecting all fourteen disciplines. She works with policy colleagues to set the strategic direction for AHPs in Scotland particularly around workforce, education, practice and research.
