Dr Charles Weller

General Manager, NHS Research Scotland

Charles Weller is General Manager of the NHS Research Scotland Central Management Team (CMT). Charles took up the post in 2014, establishing and developing the role of CMT as a central point to help coordinate and support NHS Research infrastructure across Scotland. 

Charles has a PhD in structural biochemistry, from the University of Dundee, and has worked as a postdoc and honorary lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, at St Andrews University.

Since moving into NHS research management, with NHS Tayside, he has experience of working on a wide range of areas, including Primary care, commercial research, CRF management, research networks and clinical imaging. 

In 2013, Charles was seconded to the Chief Scientist Office of the Scottish Government, (CSO) where he carried out a review of the Scottish Research Networks and Specialty Groups.
