Dr Jim Ward

Medical Director, Scottish Ambulance Service

Dr Ward has a GP background, having worked in practice for 6 years in Easterhouse and 12 years in Greenock. His clinical interests included management of addiction, medical education and transforming clinical care for the people of Scotland. 

Following a role as Clinical Director of Inverclyde Health and Care Partnership Dr Ward moved into role as Medical Director of NHS Western Isles in 2009 before taking on his current role as Medical Director of the Scottish Ambulance Service in 2014. Dr Ward supported the transformation of care across our Response Model, Integrated Clinical Hub and access to our Pathways Hub.
