Gillian MacLeod is the National Advanced Practice & Non-Medical Prescribing Lead, at the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS), with responsibility for the strategic development and delivery of Advanced Practice within the organisation. With an extensive clinical background in both prehospital and Primary Care, Gillian has worked as an Advanced Nurse and Paramedic Practitioner across a range of healthcare settings. Having a strong interest in the educational development and clinical supervision of Advanced Practitioners, Gillian was previously SAS Advanced Practitioner Education Lead and the Scottish National Educational Adviser for the College of Paramedics.

Gillian is currently working with NHS Education for Scotland in the design of General Practitioner Practice training for the multidisciplinary workforce. Gillian has a keen interest in utilising the enhanced clinical skills of Advanced Practitioners to improve patient experience and outcomes while optimising flow across the whole system.
