Hilary Alba is a community midwife and leader of the Special Needs in Pregnancy Service (SNIPS) team, in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The team works with some of the city’s most vulnerable pregnant women. Hilary’s own specialist field is the care of pregnant asylum seekers, trafficked women and women who have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM).

Last year, Hilary was named Scottish Midwife of the Year at the Scottish Health Awards. She became a Queen’s Nurse in 2017 and is using the title to help raise awareness of SNIPs and its vital work.
