Janis McDonald is currently the Chief Officer of deafScotland. Janis has a nursing background and moved into the voluntary sector to manage a specialist mental health, homelessness and addiction project, run by Glasgow Council, on Alcohol. Janis has developed thematic specialities: addictions; homelessness; equalities and now deafness.

Working in service provision then moving to local and national intermediaries, Janis has covered a range of topics, gained a mixture of insights and experiences of decision making in different locations in Scotland. This has allowed Janis to develop a wide range of skills, experience and knowledge. Janis is now particularly interested in quality and standards, governance and “communication equality”.
