Professor Carolyn McDonald is the Chief Allied Health Professions Officer at the Scottish Government and is the most senior clinical advisor for all 14 of the allied health professions (AHPs) who are the third largest of the workforce in health and care.

She provides leadership and expert professional advice to Scottish Ministers and policy officials for all aspects of policy which impact on AHP workforce, education, research and practice.

Carolyn has led on the review of AHP education and workforce in Scotland and is Chair of the National Advisory Group overseeing the implementation of the recommendations.

Carolyn is currently the professional lead within the Scottish Government on several key policy areas including Rehabilitation.

She is an Honorary Professor at both Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.
