Rory is a Consultant in Critical Care Medicine and Interim Deputy National Clinical Director at the Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD). Rory qualified in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and has been working at University Hospital Monklands (UHM), NHS Lanarkshire for 25 years. He was the first Chief of Medical Services at UHM starting in 2014 and remained in that position until starting with the CfSD in May 2021.

Rory chaired the Scottish Critical Care Delivery Group and led the national clinical response and input to the Scottish Government ICU Resilience Group throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, which still continues.
