Launch of the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland's Annual Report 2024 - 2025
11:15 - 12:30
Professor Sir Gregor Smith, Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, will launch his Annual Report for 2024-2025, addressing the significant challenges facing Scotland’s health and care system – including a projected 21% rise in cardiovascular disease, cancers and neurological disorders by 2043 and widening health inequalities.
The report calls for a fundamental shift from treatment to prevention to create a sustainable system capable of achieving the outcomes that matter to the people - with less time providing care when ill-health sets in, and significantly more time and resource focused on prevention.
Delegates will be the first to hear how Realistic Medicine can support this transformation by creating and maintaining connections with people being cared for, communities, the planet, and each other.
Along with an expert panel, the CMO will explore the benefits of reconnecting with nature, the importance of relational continuity, and how careful and kind care can be delivered across Scotland – now and in the future.
