Transformation and Renewal: Delivering a Digital First Approach
13:30 – 14:45
This session will set the context for one of the key work programmes for the Digital Health and Care Delivery Plan. The ‘Digital Front Door’ is being taken forward in the context of service renewal, innovation and transformation and improving access to services.
Chaired by the Digital Health and Care Division, the session will showcase examples from NHS partners to describe the progress, benefits and challenges of digital transformation.
The Digital Front Door to health and social care services will see its initial launch in Lanarkshire by December 2025 before being progressively rolled out across Scotland. It will allow people to access and manage their hospital appointments online, receive communications, find local services, and access and update their personal information.
The session will also provide an insight into the findings of the Digital Inclusion Programme, highlighting learning that will inform the Digital Front Door work.
Along with adoption of CHI in local government and increased use of remote monitoring, digital mental health treatments, and video access to care and support, it will make it easier for people to navigate their way around the health system, manage appointments in a more flexible, person-centred way and enhance the patient experience – supporting the digital first and preventative approach announced in the First Minister’s Renewal statement in January 2025 and as set out in the Operational Improvement Plan.
